This is a reanimation of the Vicaribus blog as lived by Miro Kazakoff and Ehren Foss in 2004 and 2005.
The photos may be spotty.
Santos's Driveway

The fading contrails of jetlag woke me up first at dawn, then again around 8:30. I spent the morning taking care of administrivia; paying bus insurance through November, requesting an end to my Ez-Pass account, filing, throwing things away, finding documents that render my 2004 1040 form completely incorrect (damnit), etc. I called the bay area Cummins dealership and put in an order of filters which I'll pick up mid this week on my way to Berkeley. I need to remember to also purchase oil, coolant, and transmission fluid from them, in amounts sufficient to complete the summer tour. I should also remember to ask them if they think vegetable oil will do any harm.
The kitchen table is now fully installed and partially beautified and protected. The design is very simple, and effectively a booby trap if you lift up on the table. I bolted two large hinges through the bus wall just below the windows across from the kitchen counter, bolted the table top to the hinges, and cut two diagonal braces that would run from the old seat support to simple notches under the table. It's rather handsome, I think.
I finished wiring two additional 110V appliances: The microwave and the bathroom fan. I outdid myself this time with regards to a complete disrespect for standards and codes. The power runs from a plug underneath the kitchen counter (originally installed for the Fridge, which was later found to draw so much current it instantly popped the inverter relay), under the sink (doh), into a 3-gang wall box (!!) where it is poorly insulated with the wrong kind of tape since I didn't want to make the hour roundtrip to the hardware store, then wires run strange routes (including straight through a kitchen cabinet) before terminating at the devices. Yikes.
By 5 I was done with bus work for the day, swept, cleaned, made dinner, showered, said hello to Santos on his way to Redwood City to continue working. Between 6 and 7 I lost one of those hours that often fall to slight dehydration and previous physical activity. If I had a TV to turn on, I would have done that.
I worked for 3 hours in the evening on Client A's project (I can't remember what letters I applied to them before, but this is the Big Fish), putting together a function-free demo that will help them figure out what features they want and how they want it to work, in hopes that we can finally sign something and maybe, just maybe, someday I can get paid.
That's all for today; an iteration of tasks.
